The annual general meeting of the international cider tourism and culture network Ciderlands was held in Herefordshire from October 10 to 13. This event was attended by international delegates from 15 countries and regions as well as a large group of cider communicators, producers and enthusiasts that we could define as the champions league of cider influencers, both in the physical and digital world. An event of this nature generates a great qualitative and quantitative impact in terms of the dissemination of a destination. And as some data can be measured, we have decided to carry out a study on the scope it had on Twitter. This are the numbers.
A meeting like Ciderlands not only facilitates the exchange of experiences and knowledge, networking and fun. This kind of events have a great impact on the diffusion of the cider culture in the world, and this impact can be assessed both qualitatively and quantitatively.
Regarding the qualitative factors, it is worth noting that during Ciderlands 2019 delegates from the main cider producing countries and regions of Europe met in Herefordshire, as well as representatives from Japan and New York. These people are potential prescribers in their respective countries focused on a very specific audience, which is none other than that of cider lovers. The fact that they could get to know closely and feel the passion of cider culture in Herefordshire will undoubtedly help them from now on communicating it much more effectively, both in their personal and professional relationships.
However, it is very difficult to measure the qualitative impact of an event of this nature, so from the Ciderzale consultancy we wanted to provide a more scientific measurement to understand the effect that an event like Ciderlands can have on the dissemination of a destination linked to cider in social networks. For this, we have done a small study of the activity that was generated on Twitter during the days in which Ciderlands 2019 was celebrated through the measurement of the main keywords used in this social network: Ciderlands & Ciderlands2019.
Keep in mind that this study focuses only on Twitter, but the event was disseminated in other social networks such as Instagram and Facebook, as well as in traditional media. Also note that as we have stressed there is a no less important impact, which is due to the influence that each of the attendees can exert from here on in their daily lives.
